TYPES OF
HAZARD/
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS/
SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Flammable.
NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking.
Foam, alcohol-resistant foam, powder, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Above 29░C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed.
Above 29░C use a closed system, ventilation, and explosion-proof electrical equipment.
In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.
EXPOSURE
PREVENT GENERATION OF MISTS!

  • INHALATION
  • Cough. Dizziness. Drowsiness. Headache.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
  • Dry skin. Roughness.
    Protective gloves.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention if blistering or redness occurs.
  • EYES
  • Blurred vision. Burning sensation. Lachrymation and photophobia, possible corneal damage.
Face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
  • Abdominal pain. Drowsiness. Vomiting (further see Inhalation).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Give plenty of water to drink. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Collect leaking liquid in sealable containers. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. Wash away remainder with plenty of water (extra personal protection: A filter respirator for organic vapour).
Fireproof. Separated from strong oxidants, aluminium.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
COLOURLESS LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
Reacts with aluminium forming flammable gas (hydrogen - see ICSC # 0001). Reacts with strong oxidants, such as chromium trioxide causing fire hazard. Attacks some plastic and rubber.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
TLV: 50 ppm; 152 mg/m3 (ceiling values) (skin) (ACGIH 1994-1995).
    MAK: 100 ppm; 300 mg/m3 (1994).

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour, through the skin and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air will be reached rather slowly on evaporation of this substance at 20░C.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The vapour of this substance irritates the eyes and the respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the central nervous system. Exposure to high concentration could cause lowering of consciousness.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact with skin may cause dermatitis. Exposure may increase noise induced hearing loss.
